Our Story

Siobhan and Spencer have a love story as old as time, but uniquely theirs. They first met in 2015 through mutual friends and the University of Calgary Drama Department. However, they were not fast lovers … or even friends. In fact you could say they were rivals. With Spencer’s boisterous personality and Siobhan’s uninhibited ambition and spicy attitude, it took these two a few years before they realized they were meant to be.

They reconnected in their mid twenties after their time at University had come to a close. In 2019 both Siobhan & Spencer had recently moved back to Calgary after they had both (seperately) spent a year trying to “make it” in bigger cities. It was around this time that Siobhan asked Spencer to help produce a short film, A Good Night Sleeps. Siobhan knew she needed someone with just as much drive and dedication as her to get the project made. Little did she know, over the course of the summer and into the fall, they would slowly, but surely, fall in love.

In between making a movie, they began spending more and more time together listening to records, making meals for each other, and talking for hours on the phone late into the night until finally, Siobhan made the first move at a Dead South concert. Shortly after they started dating, and Spencer moved into the apartment across the hall from Siobhan …one apartment was generally empty as the two spent almost every second together.

During the 2020 apocalypse, they once again combined their creative energy into producing and directing a film festival ( Quarantine International Film Festival). They only expected to get a couple entries but soon the idea turned into a full time job! They received thousands of submissions from around the world and spent their time watching hours and hours of homemade short films. While other people were struggling with completing the entirety Netflix’s catalogue, these two fostered a community of artists from around the world, with the hope to inspire and connect creatives during lockdown. As the world slowly shifted into what we called the “new normal” Siobhan and Spencer have since travelled the country together exploring new places, camping in the mountains, visiting family and friends in BC, and always finding the BEST restaurants and breweries to enjoy. One rainy day , on August 30th 2023, on Spencer's grandparents land in the Kootneys, the two decided to take the next step in their story, and open a new chapter as a forever couple, when Spencer asked Siobhan to marry him. (I mean the signs were there dude!). The love and support these two have given each other is limitless. It transcends the hard times and the uncertainty that sometimes comes navigating life’s ups and downs. They make each other laugh like no one else, they hold each other when they cry, and they continuously inspire each other to be the best versions of themselves.

Please join us in getting these two hitched!
